The importance of the port of Mombasa to it's residents

 Back in Dec 2019,the former president Uhuru Kenyatta flagged of the first cargo train and later in the same Year KPA issued a directive that all cargo destined for Nairobi and past Nairobi would have to be mandatory ferried on the SGR.At this juncture is where things started sowering and led to continuous protests by shippers and transporters fearing loss of livelihoods.

International relations. The port of Mombasa has aided land lock countries like Uganda and Congo to transport their good. This has promoted good relations between Kenya and those countries. The port of Mombasa serves Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, southern Sudan , Rwanda etc.

Employment. Employment. The port of Mombasa has open doors of opportunity to the people of Mombasa and Kenya at a large. As a port large amount of labor is needed from machine operations to cleaners. A large capacity of employees is needed in odder for operation to commence hence job opportunities.

Economic growth. The port of Mombasa has enabled Mombasa as a county to grow. Mombasa produces  a GDP of 5412 dollars per capital this is majorly from the port. The interest  collected from the port serve the economy. Also if the people are employed then they’re  able to pay taxes and taxes contribute to the growth of economy.

Tourism’s. Tourism’s  can either be local or internationally. The port of Mombasa being the largest in east and central Africa and it is in a setting of pre-historic area.

Cultural exchange. The port of Mombasa has employed people from. East and central Africa here by  cultural exchange between the people. The ability to move from one country to the other enables the employees to borrow things from different countries like south Africa and some Arab countries.

 Less traffic and accidents.  Heavy cargos are transported via the sea. When transported on the road the a very risky. Also the Uganda – eldoret road is less congested because most goods are now transported by the sea.

 Reliable. Unlike road transport where the is car jacking and goods getting on the roads. There’s  less attach on the sea.  like cars can be transported and reach the owner safely.

Global warming- is the long-term heating of Earth’s surface observed since the preindustrial period. In the industrial period this is between the 1800 and the 1900 when human activities increased due to industrialization.
